Rocky, a Chihuahua, was tied to the dog rings outside Tesco Express on Orchard Parade by his owner who was inside the store when the theft occurred. Between 5pm and 5.10pm on Saturday, September 1 the thieves unclipped the lead from the nine-month-old dog’s collar and made off with him in an unknown direction. The puppy is white with a brown nose and brown markings around his eyes, he also has a bent tail and was wearing a blue harness patterned with small white bones when he went missing. Police have now released images of Rocky and a man who they would like speak about the theft. PC Ross Paybody, from the Potters Bar Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Rocky is a much-loved family pet and I would appeal to anyone who believes they may have seen him since Saturday to contact police. “Or if you recognise this man, please get in touch with police. He may have witnessed the incident or have information that is vital to our investigation.” Over the past couple of months a series of dog thefts have taken place in the Potters Bar area, with pets being ransomed back to their owners. Worried dog-walkers also put up posters in Parkfield after a series of dog-nappings took place there in July and August. Last month a dog watch scheme was set up by Psco Christopher Ramdeen in Potters Bar, South Mimms and Shenley. Call police on 101 with information.
