This little girl had been seen running round the Withymoor area for a couple of weeks. She was scared and spooky and no-one could get near her although there were many reports of sightings. K9 Search UK received a call about her and Jennie phoned us to ask us to go out and trap her, so as she was being spotted late at night around midnight we went out and set the trap up, baited the trap with chicken and sausage and waited. It didn’t take long for her hunger to get the better of her and by 1am she was in the trap.
A quick scan down her back showed no chip but as she was terrified and may have bitten through fear it was safer to let her calm down.
Back at Lins she collapsed in a relieved sleep and today, as she smelt so bad , went in the bath. As we ran the water over her we had the shock of our lives, the water turned red with blood and we were worried that when we checked her over we had missed a serious wound. Checking her in the bath we would find nothing and then we saw them – masses of fleas in the bath. This was a horrific infestation, we haven’t seen fleas this bad in years. Out came the flea shampoo and as you can see from the video the water still ran red and this was the second shampooing.
The fleas were abandoning ship at a rate of knots and slowly the water started running clear. Lord did she feel better after her bath and she did happy dances all around the room. When she was dry she was advocated. While she was feeling good we re-scanned her and, low and behold, we got a chip – right between her front legs on her chest :S
To say her family were ecstatic at the news she had been found was an understatement as she had gone missing/stolen whilst out 3 weeks ago. She was delighted to see the family member who came to collect her and jumped all over him – another happy ending due to a chip.
