Urgent please check your missing/stolen dogs database details!

An unnamed source has told us:-

‘It angers me that the rescue charity I work for (a large, well known charity) will only contact the chipped owner if a dog is a stray, but if it is signed over as an unwanted pet, then scans to have a chip registered to someone else they will not contact the chip-holder, they will just put the dog up for homing and re-register the chip.

This means that even if we got Vets to scan all dogs registering at their practices and check the database details, these rehomed rescue dogs would show the new owners details.

Standard Operation Procedures at rescues are now very dubious.  How many dogs has this happened to?

If you are the owner of a missing or stolen dog please check with your database that you details have not been changed without your knowledge.
