Owner has to go to court to prove ownership? Faye is the registered keeper on the microchip database but this does not prove ownership! Microchips help owners to be reunited with their pets, not in this case.
The full story is on the Tinkerbell Fund. Owner Faye Moore’s Pug was stolen on 24th November 2010. She was called on the 5th March 2012 to be told her dog had just been scanned and was in Somerset! Faye can’t be reunited with her dog because she does not have the money to fight a court case.
This story will explain everything that is wrong with the microchipping system in place today and this could happen to any pet owner who has acted responsibly and had their pet microchipped.
Faye being a responsible dog owner had Tinkerbell microchipped in good faith. It is a travesty that she has been let down in every aspect by the very industry that she trusted in as do many other pet owners all over the UK. Tinkerbell has fallen through every loop hole there is and instead of reuniting the pair they are pulled further apart by the now impending law suit Faye has to face to prove ownership of her own dog.
