Stolen bulldog is reunited with its owner
A stolen dog has been reunited with its owner after it was found during a drugs operation in Harlow.
Alfie, a British bulldog, was found on disused ground during Operation Bracken – a multi-agency operation targeting suspected drug dealers onTuesday January 26.
The dog was found by Denise Harvey, Essex Police communication and marketing officer, who was at the operation.
She said: “I was standing near a disused area when I heard a dog whimpering, upon investigation I saw the face of a British bulldog look out from a small box area.”
The RSPCA and a co-ordinator from Dog Lost arrived to scan the dog. He was chipped and they were able to tell that he had been stolen from Roydon in August last year.
Denise said: “We took Alfie to the vets where we reunited him with his rightful owner Marina Nicholas who had tears of joy to see the dog again. The vet informed us that Alfie had lost two stone in weight.”
Sgt Lewis Basford: “Alfie was successfully returned due to the fact he was chipped. I would encourage all dog owners to electronically chip their dogs. I would like thank Jo Thompson, the Essex co-ordinator from Dog Lost who helped us on the day to search for other stolen dogs.”
