Stolen dog found strangled, second dog still missingA STOLEN dog that was strangled and left for dead has been returned to its owner – but a second pet from the same household remains missing.
Jack, the six-month-old Jack Russell, was found dumped with a cord wrapped tightly around its neck.
Passers-by spotted the dog gasping for breath by North Station, Colchester, the same night it disappeared from its home in Harwich Road, Great Bromley.
He was stolen, along with a second Jack Russell, Penny, from the property’s garden some time after 8pm on Thursday.
Owner, Hayley Bruce, said she believes the thieves have kept the 17 month old bitch to breed, but dumped the male dog as it was no use to them.
The mother of three has appealed for Penny’s safe return and is offering a reward to anyone with information.
“It is just absolutely devastating,” she said.
“Jack is pining and his eyes are blood shot from being strangled.”
He had been strangled with a pink, Playboy branded, fabric cord designed to be clipped to mobile phones.
Penny, who remains missing, is not chipped but wore an identitiy disc on a black collar.
