RUBY IS HOME AT LAST! Microchipped Ruby was stolen on the 16th May 2012 and was found 21st December’12, but this became a ‘Civil Action’ as Ruby was taken by the ex partner who claimed ownership!

UPDATE 13TH MAY’13. Virtually a year to the day Ruby is reunited. It has been a long hard struggle but Jason and his mother Julie never gave up. REUNITED.

Jason had gifted Ruby to Julie, his mum when his marriage broke down. It was only when Ruby was found through Facebook friends who had seen Ruby out, that Jason and Julie found out it was Jason’s ex partner who had taken her. This has meant a six month battle going to the courts with all the stress and strain. Thankfully the original Petlog microchip papers were signed by Jason and yesterday his ex partner agreed to give Ruby back.

It has been a ‘TEAM’ effort to get Ruby back home. Jason, Julie and Graham Baker never gave up hope and with the help of Tanya Baker, Lisa Boyes, Jennie Dhanjal, the Dog Warden and Debbie Matthews, Ruby is home, where she belongs!

Petlog and the West Midlands police supplied valuable documentation to the cause. Thank you.

UPDATE 22nd DECEMBER’12:- RUBY HAS BEEN FOUND. POLICE HAVE NOT RETURNED DOG TO OWNER EVEN THOUGH RUBY IS MICROCHIPPED AND DETAILS ARE UP TO DATE!

1. Microchip is registered to Jason and was flagged as stolen dog.
2. There is a crime reference number for the theft of Ruby on 16th May, 2012.
3. There are two newspaper articles about the theft of Ruby and two live radio interviews.
4. Divorce papers state that Ruby is Jason’s dog.

5. Jason has the reciept from when he bought Ruby.

6. Facebook page and poster campaign to help find Ruby.

Ruby was spotted the week before Christmas with a woman being walked by members of the public who had seen Ruby’s stolen poster on Facebook, they followed her and got the address.

Police went to this woman’s house on the 21st December’12 and confirmed it was Ruby by her microchip. That person who has Ruby said she had the dog from Jaosn’s Ex. The Ex turned up and showed a credit card receipt for Ruby’s vaccinations from Dec 2011. The police were left powerless as this is not a straight theft but a fight over ownership.

Jason’s ex wife stole the dog while he was moving home and gave it to her friend.

Police say they are ‘powerless’ once a Criminal act becomes a Domestic. This is now a civil matter as it is a family dispute and will have to go to the small claims court!

One of the News paper articles after Ruby was stolen:-

Owner’s desperate plea for safe return of stolen puppy.

A Cradley Heath man has launched a desperate search for his puppy which was stolen from his back garden as he was moving house.

Jason Baker is devastated after his American Bulldog Ruby was taken from his previous address in Titford Road, Langley.

The 23-year-old driver left seven-month-old Ruby in the garden, which is enclosed by a six-foot high fence, for 20 minutes at around 9.10am on Wednesday (May 16) to move in with his mother in Cokeland Place, Cradley Heath.

When he returned to collect her she was gone.

A rope tied into a noose, which Jason believes thieves used to steal her, was found on the floor by his back gate, which was closed.

The 23-year-old, who has moved in with his mother after a marriage break up, has put around a hundred posters up around Brandhall and Mucklow Hill in Halesowen and is offering a reward for Ruby’s safe return.

He said: “She’s a loving dog and wouldn’t hurt anyone. She is still only a pup. I am devastated. I have just split up with my wife.

“There’s no way she could have got out of the garden. It is almost like someone was watching me and deliberately timed the theft.”

Jason, who works for Asten Concepts, Oldbury, has been contacted by several people who think they have seen Ruby running around streets in Halesowen and Brandhall after he also advertised her theft on dog rescue sites. He thinks she may have escaped from the people who stole her. He has contacted West Midlands Police about the theft.

Anyone who has seen Ruby, who is microchipped, can call Jason on 07598 691587.

What message does this case tell owners of microchipped dogs? The woman who is in receipt of stolen ‘goods’ Ruby, flaunted this picture above, of her on Facebook saying ‘Happy Christmas everyone’.

Using an animal to ‘get even’ is not right!  Another picture used to upset Jason and his family!
