RIP GLEN, sorry the microchip system let you and your owner down!

RIP GLEN.

Glen a 17 year old who was MICROCHIPPED was stolen on the 9th April’14. A neighbour saw people in a white Vauxhall 4×4 trying to tempt him with treats, but does not know if they succeeded. The family have been told that Glen was picked up and taken to Clydebank Police station and then to the Cat and Dog Home, where they thought he had been run over and he was ‘put to sleep’, without contacting the owner.

UPDATE 16TH APRIL’14:-
Hi everyone……it’s with an extremely heavy heart I write this !!!! I received a txt in the early hours of this morning saying that someone they know had found a dog matching Glens description @ the erskine bridge & had handed him in to Clydebank police station.   Subsequently he was then transferred to the welfare department for dogs who thought he had been runover therefore put him to sleep!!

My uncle went to the vets where Glen was put to sleep first thing & unfortunately it is Glen!
I still don’t know the full story as I’ve only spoken to my uncle briefly as he’s extremely upset!!
I can’t thank each & everyone of you enough for the txt, PM, phone calls, shares, everyone has been so kind!
This is definately not the outcome we’d hoped for!!
RIP you beautiful Dog Glen….you’re up there with my big boy Buster now xxx just to clarify it wasn’t the SSPCA that put Glen to sleep, the police contacted the welfare department & as Glen had a broken leg & was not in great condition it was a vet that took the hard decision to do this xxx

FURTHER UPDATE . I HAVE HAD A MESSAGE FROM SSPCA TO SAY THE FOLLOWING. LostDogs-Scotland hopes it can be clarified by someone and Glen’s owner has not been put through all this distress for nothing.

“Hi there, We noted on your Facebook page the very sad story about Glen. There are a couple of posts on the thread which suggest that the Scottish SPCA put Glen to sleep. We would like to clarify that Glen was not taken into our care and was not put to sleep by the Scottish SPCA (SSPCA). We do not tend to post on other Facebook pages and wonder if you would be able to clarify this on this thread? It may be that Glen’s owner will pass on what occurred and how and why Glen was put to sleep. Again we would like to stress that Glen was not put to sleep by the Scottish SPCA ”
