Very very sad to report that the body of Kip, the blind springer spaniel missing in Northumberland was washed up at Low Hauxley this afternoon.
We are indebted to the thousands of people who contributed in the search and campaign to find him.

Message from Kip’s mum:
Sadly there is still no sign of Kip.
The beach has been checked today for anything washed ashore from Craster to Widdrington (a good 20 miles). There is no sign at the scented area, which has been re-scented tonight.
This evening we lit barbecues and cooked sausages all along the dunes from Amble to the Country Park, but, sadly, no response.
I have just had confirmation that the dog that was sighted in Amble on Thursday was NOT Kip, so we have had no sightings of him whatsoever since he went on Wednesday lunchtime.
Thank you again to all those who were out in the pouring rain and wind today. Hope that you are are warm and dry and tucked up in bed by now.

Clearly, Kip cannot be on the beach as we have now had 3 high tides since he disappeared. We are still covering that area in case he returns to it but are also trying to cover the area inland.Friends have approached the RAF station at Boulmer to request that the Air Sea Rescue helicopter keeps an eye out if it is airborne. A local airfield has briefed its microlight pilots to cover a search grid when the weather permits them to be airborne again. The local newspaper has put a story on their website. Radio stations have been contacted, even the Amble fishing fleet has been alerted to keep an eye out. Working spaniels have tried to track him. I have scented an area near where he disappeared.
It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack – Druridge Bay beach alone is 6 miles long!Sorry to say this, but we have checked the beach for his body, but no sign. The dunes have been searched time and time again, woods and fields covered.
We have to be realistic about the situation: I have some doubts that the dog that was spotted in Amble yesterday was Kip. When I spoke to one of the men who saw him, he was surprised to hear that Kip is blind. Now, we know he moves very confidently a lot of the time, but I would have thought that, in unfamiliar surroundings, and after being lost for almost 24 hours, he would have been looking very tentative. That, coupled with the fact that there have been no more sightings since yesterday morning, make me think that the balance of probability is that it was not Kip.Everything crossed and prayers for more sightings today, but if there are none we have to face the very real likelihood that he turned east at some point and went for a long swim. All we can do is keep trying.Once again, a huge thank you to everyone. I am now out of text allowance and the phone is going non-stop. If you text me and I don’t respond, please bear with me. I really do appreciate the messages of support, but will only be answering texts that have specific questions.
