This is the first and last photo of me and my furbaby Kevin (aka old velvet) in 2 years.
First photo in 2 years because 2 years ago he went missing.
Last photo, because this is me picking him up from the vets to take him home to bury him after getting a call saying he’d been hit by a car.
It is of some comfort to see that he’d obviously been well looked after and cared for but what isn’t of any comfort is holding his broken little body knowing that if some a######e had just had the decency to get his microchip scanned, he’d have been returned to me safe and well and been here for lots more photos.
The moral of this story is DON’T just assume that you can take a cat as your own if it’s eaten at yours a few times, cats are opportunists, they will eat anywhere. If you find a cat you think is lost it takes 30 seconds if that to scan his chip, people will even come to your house to do it FOR FREE!!!
Think about what it does to the family to lose a pet, I am absolutely heartbroken, I cannot even put it into words.
PLEASE SHARE this post to try and make people more aware of the heartbreak 1000’s of people’s selfishness causes every week. #TheftByFinding
Thank you for taking the time to read this essay!
Was Kevin taken to the vet during the 2 years he was missing?
#FernsLaw asked permission to use Kevin’s story and this was Carol’s reply:-
Please feel free to share my story. Having read the link on the #FernsLaw petition, it’s even more relative because the vet who chipped Kevin ‘forgot’ to send the paperwork off to the database company so when I phoned to report him missing there were no details registered to his number……grrrrrrr! X
