29TH April’13. Sadly Barney was put to sleep on Friday 26th. This is made worse by the fact the owner was found on Sunday 28th by a lady on our Facebook group page called Joy Renshaw. She put a advert in Gumtree about Barney. The owners daughter contacted Joy on the Sunday and explained her mother had been a victim of a burglary and beaten up. Barney had escaped from the house!! Not sure why the police didn’t put out an SOS for Barney! The owner although heart broken now has closure. Our love and thoughts are with her and her dear old boy Barney!
On Tuesday (16th) the fire brigade rescued a yellow Labrador dog from the river in Eastville, Bristol, still wearing his lead. Thankfully he had not suffered any physical injuries from the river but he is an old boy with some existing health issues. We were able to gain some info from his microchip – he’s called Barney and is 12 years old. Unfortunately the owners contact details were out of date so we are unable to locate them.
Thousands of pets are lost every year and many are never reunited with their owners. Microchipping your pet increases the chances of them being reunited if the animal is lost, stolen or strays away from home. It is also very important that microchip details are kept up-to-date with your database, otherwise the microchip is useless.
Barney is a gentle, lovely natured dog who is now desperate to be reunited with his owner after his harrowing ordeal.
