An App developed in Britain is going viral across social media and pet blogger sites in the States as communities devastated by the impact of Superstorm Sandy help in the search for thousands of pets who were separated from their owners by the hurricane.
The Lost Petz App works like a modern day equivalent of posting thousands of fliers in the area where the pet was last seen – the owner simply adds the pet’s details to an alert which is sent out to everyone within a 10 mile radius who has the App on their smartphone. It is so quick and easy to use, distraught pet owners are being joined by thousands of people in the affected areas who are willing to help out their fellow Americans in their hour of need.
The Lost Petz Basic Subsciption allows you to upload records of your pets and to send alerts if they should become lost. This subscription is valid for one year from activation and covers all devices associated with your account. Price is 69p.
So to use the app for alerts is free but to register your lost dog will cost 69p a year.
