#FernsLaw could have prevented MILLIE from being put to sleep!

RIP MILLIE: EVERY PET DESERVES THE RIGHT TO BE SCANNED AND MICROCHIP REGISTRATION CHECKED TO BE REUNITED.

Copied post from Doglost:-

“I feel it is Margarets place to give full details if she wishes, but through her devotion and determination to find Millie, we discovered that  a well known rescue had seized her from someone and kept her for rehoming.   She had Spondylosis of the spine which had got a lot worse, so after several weeks of being seen by their vet it was decided to send her to the Rainbow Bridge.

The most heartbreaking thing of all is that Millie’s microchip was still registered to Margaret, yet she or her vet were never called to say Millie had been recovered! So sad.

Why wasn’t she scanned?”

A question we still ask today.  This shows how imperative it is that microchip registration is checked.  From what we can gather, the rescue assumed the man who had Millie in his possession was her registered keeper.  If they had checked when they seized Millie, they would have seen that she was flagged as a stolen/missing dog on the original database.
